Obituary for James N. Casteel
James N. Casteel, 87, Fairfield, PA passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born November 24, 1930 in Terra Alta, W.VA. the son of the late Stanley and Daisy Bowman Casteel. Jim is survived by his wife Barbara Lauver Casteel, two daughters; Karen Gumbel and her husband Steve of Leesburg, FL, Peggy Meekins and her husband Leroy of Baltimore, MD, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a brother, Bill Casteel of Chambersburg, PA and a sister, Eleanor Geiger of Silver Spring, MD. He was predeceased by a son, James Daniel Casteel.
Mr. Casteel was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Emmistburg, MD. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean Conflict. For most of his career he was a foreman for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. Plate Mill Plant in Sparrows Point, MD until his retirement. He was a former member of Sparrows Point Country Club and Carroll Valley Golf group. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf but most of all spending time with his family.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 West Main Street, Emmitsburg, MD 21727 or the American Cancer Society, 924 North Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
