James R. Plank, 90, Gettysburg, PA passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg.
He was born September 9, 1933 in Adams County, PA the son of the late John E. and Hazel Dick Plank. His wife Betty Plank died in 2004.
Mr. Plank was a very active member of Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Church Trustee, a member of the Kitchen Committee, a member of the Joy Fellowship and member of the Sunday School Class. Early in his career he worked in the construction business as a heavy equipment operator and later for Schindler Elevator Corp where he retired in 1997 after 26 years of service. Jim was a member of the Adams County Christian Academy Board of Directors and also was the supervisor for their ground and buildings.
Mr. Plank is survived by three sons; Dennis R. Plank and his wife Sharon of Conway, SC, Timothy J. Plank and his wife Carol of Gettysburg, PA, Joel E. Plank and his wife Heather of Gettysburg, PA, a daughter, Idella L. Dunkin and her husband Joe of Aspers, PA, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Jim was predeceased by six brothers; Earl Plank, Roy Plank, Richard Plank, Ira Plank, Arthur Plank, Dale Plank, and five sisters; Betty Adelsberger, Hester Shafer, Shirley Rudisill, Anna Shaffer, Charlotte Shaffer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM from Memorial Baptist Church in Gettysburg with Rev. Jeff Sours officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
