Obituary for Janet Jacobs Knorr
Janet Jacobs Knorr, 84, died on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the York Hospital.

She was born in Gettysburg on September 16, 1933 the daughter of the late Donald G. Jacobs and Ruth E. (Pittenturf) Jacobs. She was a lifelong resident of Gettysburg, Adams County.

She is survived by her most precious husband, Cornelius C. Knorr, and a daughter Janet Knorr Repucci and husband, Michael, and her son, Cornelius C. Knorr, II and wife, Cathleen, three grandchildren and their wives: Michael A. Repucci and Sarah, Nicholas A. Repucci and Katie, and Nathan O. Repucci and Darcy, also 7 great grandchildren, Enzo, Maelle, Madeleine, and Isabella, Leonardo, James, and Michael Owen.

She and her husband were farmers for over 60 years and also ran an Antiques business in Gettysburg for 55 years. During that time they did antiques shows and sales in New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, New Jersey, Maryland and Illinois. They became quite well known for their Pennsylvania Primitive Furniture and were featured in large newspapers and magazines throughout the US.

She was an active member of the Gettysburg Civic Chorus and accompanied the chorus from 1963 to 1974. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 202, and held many offices in the unit as well as many offices in the Adams, Franklin, Fulton and York County Council of the American Legion Department of Pennsylvania. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 15 of Gettysburg, and the Fairfield AmVets Auxiliary.

Janet attended York College of Pennsylvania from 1974 to 1977.

After partially retiring from farming in 1991 she worked for Adams County and the Adams County School District as an assistant assessor and school census taker until she retired in 2003.

Her fondest memories were of growing up in Gettysburg and all of her dearest friends from “York Street” and all her school classmates. She was most proud of her heritage of 13 generations of family in Adams County, and 6 and 8 generation of families who lived in the town of Gettysburg. She often visualized what it must have been like for the ancestors in Gettysburg during the battle. And of the hardships they must have faced in the aftermath of that battle. In her life she would like to be remembered that what meant most to her was her first and only love, her husband Con, and of her two wonderful children, and then to be blessed with grand and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Christ Chapel on the campus of Gettysburg College with The Very Reverend Dr. Thomas C. H. Scott, SCP(ret) officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to a charity or organization of your choice.
