Obituary for Janet L. Hertz
Janet L. Hertz, 77, of Gettysburg, PA died Friday evening, April 22, 2016 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born September 4, 1938 in Gettysburg she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Ruth (White) Deckert. She was the wife of the late John “Pat” Hertz, who died September 21, 2010.
Mrs. Hertz was an active member of the St. John United Church of Christ in McKnightstown. She worked for many years at the Adams County Earned Income office. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her garden, and cooking for her family.
Janet is survived by her two children, Daniel B. Hertz, of Gettysburg, Laura E. Starner and her husband, Neil, of Aspers, two grandchildren, Nathan J. Starner and his wife Stephanie, Nicole J. Starner, a great grandchild, Beckett Starner, four siblings, Doris Frock, Richard Deckert and his wife Sandra, James Deckert and his wife Ann, Joan Swisher and her husband David, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at St. John United Church of Christ, 149 Old Route 30, McKnightstown, PA with Rev. Austin Chinault officiating. Burial will be in the McKnightstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday evening, April 26, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg.
