Obituary for Jean E. Sprankle
Jean E. Sprankle, 82 of Orrtanna, PA passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at her home.
Born July 31, 1934 in Cashtown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl L. & Hazel (Shultz) Harman, Jr. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Stanley E. Sprankle, who died April 28, 2009.
She was employed as an administrative assistant at the Letterkenny Army Depot for many years. Jean was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church and the Buchanan Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. She enjoyed attending plays at the Totem Pole Play House, traveling and spending time with her beloved family.
Jean is survived by her daughters; Susan Sprankle Parr and husband John and Lisa Sprankle McDannell and husband James, both of Orrtanna, sons; Wade Sprankle and wife Lori of Roulette, PA and David Landis and wife Barbara of Gettysburg, PA, nine grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, a sister, Nancy Harman McCleaf of Cashtown, PA and her brother, Howard Harman of Orrtanna, PA. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Harman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 1095 Church Road, Orrtanna, PA with Rev. Dominic M. DiBiccaro, Celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery immediately following the Mass. A Viewing will be held at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg on Monday, June 12, from 6-8 PM with a Vigil for Jean at 7:30 PM.
