Obituary for Jean Small Heiges
Jean Small Heiges, 85 of Gettysburg, PA died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Golden Living Center.
Born February 12, 1931 in Gettysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Evelyn (Chapman) Small. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Ronald T. Heiges who died in 2014.
Jean was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg, the Eastern Star, and was a Red Cross volunteer at the Gettysburg Hospital for 30 years. She enjoyed following her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. For many years Jean participated in a local bowling league.
Jean is survived by her four children; Doug Heiges of Gettysburg, Dave Heiges and wife Wendy of Gettysburg, Darryl Heiges and wife Shawn of Arendtsville, PA and Dawn Heiges Hoffman and husband Adam of Gettysburg, eight grandchildren; Lindsey, Sadie, Alexandria, Danny, and Jake Heiges, Samantha, Kurt and Mitchell Hoffman. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Small and her sister, Marian Aubertin.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:30 PM on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg. A private burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA l7325.
