
Obituary for Joan Kuhn
Joan Kuhn, 83, of Gettysburg, PA died Thursday morning, July 5, 2018 at her home in Gettysburg, PA.
Born May 29, 1935 in Gettysburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Donald and Emma (Flickinger) Heagey. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Leo H. “Pete” Kuhn who died July 10, 2013.
Joan is survived by her three children: Deborah Kuhn Gibble and her husband Michael, of Lakewood, Ohio; Laura Heckenluber and her husband Tim, of Biglerville, PA; Eric Kuhn and his wife Betty Ann, of Turnersville, NJ; four grandchildren: Jared Heckenluber, Ethan Heckenluber, Erin Cangelosi and her husband Nick, Brandon Kuhn; two great grandchildren: Brooke Cangelosi and Brayden Cangelosi; and three brothers: Darwin F. Heagey, of Gettysburg, David F. Heagey, of Gettysburg, and Daniel F. Heagey, of Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Heagey Scott
Joan was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and served on church council for two terms. She was a Stephen Minister and communion assistant.
Joan was a member of the Gettysburg High School Class of 1953 and she attended all of her class reunions and monthly luncheons. Her first job was as the receptionist/secretary at Lane Studio in Gettysburg for a number of years and retired from the Gettysburg Area School District after 28 years of service as a paraprofessional in kindergarten. After her school retirement she did clothing alterations for many people until her illness.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednseday, July 11, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St.,Gettysburg with Rev. Michael Allwein officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the services Wednesday at the church.
