Obituary for John B. Moffett
John B. Moffett, 91 of Gettysburg, PA died Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born December 7, 1924 in Washington, DC he was the son of the late Bernard V. & Mary Imelda (Garren) Moffett. John was predeceased by his wife, Marianne (Schiefer) Moffett, who died in 2014.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army of the United States. John graduated in 1950 from the University of Maryland. He was a Technical Writer for the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. John was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Gettysburg.
Survivors include his children: John H. Moffett and wife Sylvia of West Palm Beach, FL, Bernard W. Moffett of Gettysburg, Katherine Cioffi and husband Tony of Fayetteville, PA and Peter C. Moffett of Berwyn Heights, MD, a brother, James V. Moffett of San Pedro, CA, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. John was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ann Kimmel.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St. Gettysburg, PA. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 7, at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, Silver Spring, Maryland followed by his interment.
