Obituary for John E. "Jack" Long
John E. “Jack” Long, 84 of New Oxford, PA passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Genesis Gettysburg Center. Born in Boston, MA on February 12, 1933, he was the son of the late James & Mary (Chisholm) Long. Jack was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Post Ewen, NY American Legion. Jack served for many years as a manager with several large transportation companies. Jack leaves behind his wife, Lucille (Miller) Long and will be sadly missed by Cindy Vargas, Scott Taylor and his wife Natalie and Shaylene, Joshua, Nadia, Ilaiza, Kylin, Ryan and Kieri and Jack’s beloved dogs, Sedona and Gidget. A graveside funeral service with full military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg. The family suggests memorials to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
