Obituary for John F. Brennan
John F. Brennan, 93, of Gettysburg, PA died Monday morning, April 3, 2017 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born November 4, 1923 in Phoenixville, PA he was the son of the late John and Mary (Cox) Brennan. He was the husband of the late Joan V. (Robinson) Brennan who died April 1, 2007.
Mr. Brennan was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He worked for many years at the Letterkenny Army Depot. He was a member of the Gettysburg American Legion Post #202. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan supporting all their teams, he also was an avid bowler and golfer, often boasting about recording a hole-in-one.
John is survived by his three children, John Brennan, Jr., of Jacobus, PA, Stephen Brennan and his wife Debra, of York Springs, PA, Christine Ciparik, of Gettysburg, PA, one grandson, Philip Ciparik, of Wilmington, NC, one sister, Eileen, Sullivan, of Florida, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 11 siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 25 West High St., Gettysburg, PA. Burial with military honors being presented by the Adams County Allied Veterans will be in the St. Francis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, as well as from 10:00 AM until departure for the church for Mass on Saturday morning, also at the funeral home.
