Death Notice: John P. “Jack” McHale, 83 of Gettysburg, PA passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 surrounded by family at his home. He was born January 15, 1941 in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late John & Ann (Caden) McHale. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ann E. (Savage) McHale. He was a graduate of St. Peters University in Jersey City and earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Baltimore. Jack worked for the Social Security Administration from 1963 until his retirement in 2001, serving as Deputy Regional Commissioner in Philadelphia at the time of his retirement. He enjoyed his family, spoiling his granddaughter, traveling with his wife, listening to Irish Music and was an avid golfer. In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by three daughters, Maura McHale Allison (Keith) of Taylorsville, MD, Brenda Ciccarone (Brent) of Baltimore, MD and Jean Marie McHale of Baltimore, a granddaughter Ella McHale Ciccarone, two sisters, Maureen Mendles of Kearney, NJ and Geraldine O’Connell of Netcong, NJ and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa McCollum. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 25, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 45 West High Street, Gettysburg, PA. Interment in St. Francis Cemetary will follow the Mass. A Visitation will be held at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 3:00-5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gettysburg Community Soup Kitchen, 22 W. High St. or Sisters of St. Joseph, 9701 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118.
