Obituary for John Wendall Nichols
John Wendall Nichols died October 17, 2019 in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. He was born in Rumford April 16, 1930 to the late Robert and Alona Nichols. He was a graduate of Stephens High School. John married Sylvia Hunt in Rangeley on September 14, 1951.
He was employed in the paper industry for 45 years, starting in Rumford at Oxford Paper Company in 1950 and later with the Ethyl Corporation in Richmond, VA, Miami Paper Company in West Carrollton, OH, and Fraser Paper Company in St. Paul, MN from which he retired in 1995. Upon retiring, he and Sylvia moved to Hendersonville, NC for several years and later to Gettysburg, PA.
John is survived by his wife Sylvia of Fayetteville, PA, two daughters and sons-in-law Susan Nichols (James Derby) of Gettysburg and Betty Walsh (Michael) of Naples, FL, and two granddaughters Beth Ann Walsh of Warwick, RI and Heather Sue Walsh of Tampa, FL. He was preceded in death by two sisters Marie Nichols and Frances Bailey and by one niece. Several other nieces and nephews survive.
