Obituary for Joseph "Fred" Matteson
Joseph F. “Fred” Matteson, age 91, formerly of Gettysburg, PA passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford, PA.
Born November 19, 1926 in East Berlin, Camden County, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Howard E. & Bessie Mae Matteson. Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nola Ann (Conover) Matteson, who died in 2011.
Fred was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy. He owned & operated Matteson Kitchens for 64 years. Fred enjoyed horseback riding and was an avid motorcyclist well past the age of 80.
Survivors include his two daughters; Deborah Fitch of Tulsa, OK and Rhonda Bair of Littlestown, PA, a son, David Matteson of Greencastle, PA, nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters; Doris MacDonald and Geanne Pavdavano.
A private celebration of Fred’s life will be held by his family at a future date.
