Obituary for Joseph H. Kane
Joseph H. Kane, 68, of Gettysburg, PA died Sunday afternoon, July 17, 2016 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born August 20, 1947 in Gettysburg he was the son of the late J. Harry and Mary (Lowe) Kane. He was the husband of Janet L. (Deardorff) Kane of Gettysburg to whom he was married to for 43 years.
Mr. Kane was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield. He worked for Quebecor in Fairfield for a number of years and also was a salesman for Washington National Insurance Company, in addition he was the former owner of Fairfield Cut Rate which is now the Book & Table. He was a life member of Fairfield Fire Company and the Blue Ridge Sportsmen’s Club.
In addition to his wife Joe is survived by his son, Jeremy Kane and his wife Angela, of Fairfield, two grandchildren, Jackson and Adeline, four sisters, Margaret Orner, of Fairfield, Betty Roy, of El Paso, TX, Lorraine Welcomer, of Fairfield, Donna Weikert and her husband Larry, of Fairfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessie Ellen Kane and his grandson, Allister Kane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 256 Tract Rd., Fairfield, PA. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 East Main St., Fairfield, as well as from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass Friday at the church.
