Obituary for Julia Marie Thomas
Julia Marie Thomas, age 88, of Gettysburg, PA passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at the York Hospital on Sunday, December 4, 2016.
Born October 11, 1928 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Richard G. & Mabel L. (Bluebaugh) Hull.
Julia was a longtime resident of Gettysburg. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and was a fifty year member of the Gettysburg Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. Julia had worked for many years at The House of Bender, and later as a dietary aide at Green Acres Nursing Home in Gettysburg. Most of her life was devoted to raising her five children.
She is survived by her children; Gary Thomas and wife Karen of Bendersville, PA, Linda Appel and husband Steve of Evansville, IN, Bonnie Post and husband Sheldon of Levittown, PA, Pete Thomas and wife Becky of Gettysburg, and Randy Thomas and significant other Tracey Bishop of Gettysburg, five grandchildren; Angela, Wesley, Matt, Andrew and Emily and nine great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Sharon and Jen Bowie, for the excellent and compassionate care of Julia during the last years of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with Rev. Michael Allwein, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenmount Cemetery in Arendtsville, PA. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Memorials contributions may be made to the Gettysburg Fire Department, 35 North Stratton St., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
