Obituary for Kenneth B. Selby
Kenneth B. Selby, 91, Hanover Road, Gettysburg, PA died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the home of his granddaughter.
He was born September 24, 1924 in Taneytown, MD the son of the late Norman S. and Marguerite Crabbs Selby. His wife, Lillian Scott Selby died in 2009.
Mr. Selby was an active member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Gettysburg. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army from 1943 thru 1946. He was a 70 year member and Past Commander of the Gettysburg American Legion. He was also a member of the VFW in Harney,MD. Ken owned and operated Selby Body Shop in Gettysburg for 37 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to starting his body shop he worked at both Glenn L. Bream Oldsmobile Cadillac and Warren Chevrolet. Spending time with his grandchildren was the highlight of his days. There is not anything he didn’t and wouldn’t have done for them.
Mr. Selby is survived by a son, Virgil Love of Gettysburg, PA, a granddaughter, Cassondra Lynn Selby of Gettysburg, PA, three great grandchildren; London Mitchell, India Mitchell, Andorra Mitchell, a sister, Arlene Overholtzer of Gettysburg, PA, two brothers; Carroll Selby and Francis Selby both of Taneytown, MD. In addition to his wife, Ken was predeceased by a son Richard K. Selby and a daughter, Robin Lynn Dougherty.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 at Memorial Baptist Church, Gettysburg, PA at 11:00 AM with Pastor Stephen Baker officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg on Thursday, March 31st from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM and on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
