Obituary for Kerry L. McKnight Garrett
Kerry L. McKnight Garrett, 40, of Gettysburg, PA passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born October 4, 1977 in York, PA the daughter of the late M. Keith McKnight and Marsha L. McGhie McKnight of Brodbecks, PA.
Kerry was a graduate of Susquehannock High School where she participated in softball, basketball, field hockey, the band and orchestra. She received her BS from Slippery Rock University and was a four year starter on the varsity field hockey team as a goaltender. Then she received her Master’s from Old Dominion University and became an Assistant Trainer at Gettysburg College. For a brief time, Kerry moved to Pittsburgh and was employed by UPMC where she worked for various organization within the Pittsburgh community, including the Pittsburgh Steelers the year they won the 2006 Super Bowl, the Pittsburgh Passion (woman’s football team) the year they won their title and Carnegie Mellon University. Kerry then returned to Gettysburg College where she became Assistant Head Trainer. She was a member of PATS, NATA, and American Heart Association. Kerry enjoyed travels, time with her family and recording both with lots of photos.
In addition to her mother, Kerry is survived by her husband, Matthew Garrett, two daughters; Isabella and Charlotte Garrett both at home, and a brother, Scott K. McKnight, his wife Jeannine McKnight and children Aidan and Paige of Eldersburg, MD.
A Celebration of her Life will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Christ Chapel on the campus of Gettysburg College from 12:00 until 2:00 where the family will receive friends and a Memorial service will follow. Kerry would like everyone to continue her celebration at a gathering with food and beverages afterward.
