Obituary for Larry E. Parr
Larry E. Parr, 67, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Martinsburg VA Hospital, WV.
Born December 9, 1949, in Chambersburg, PA he was the son of the late William and Madoline (Furry) Parr, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Sally G. (Shockey) Parr of Waynesboro to whom he was married to for 22 years.
Larry was a United States Army Veteran, serving during Vietnam earning both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He worked various jobs throughout his life including Valley Quarries, Saw Mills at Mountain Valley and Coldsmith, and the J. Martin Benchoff estate. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, coaching softball and going to yard sales, flea markets, and auctions. He was a lifelong fan of the Oakland Raiders and especially loved his dog, Isabella.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his four children: Seth Parr and his significant other, Leanna, of Pleasant Hall, Emmy Miner and her husband Jeff, of Fayetteville, Megan Kauffman and her significant other George, of Waynesboro, and Abbie Parr and her significant other Patrick, of Waynesboro, PA. Larry is also survived by two grandchildren, Donovan Campbell and Keira Gift, his four siblings, Roger Parr, of Biglerville, William Parr and his wife Wendy, of Orrtanna, Connie Parr, of Orrtanna, John Parr and his wife Susan, of Orrtanna, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Parr and Glenn Parr.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11am at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Christopher Frye officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the Mont Alto Cemetery, Mont Alto, immediately following the service. His family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
