Obituary for Larry L. Yager
Laurence L. Yager, age 85, of Gettysburg, PA died Monday, December 11, 2017 at his home after a long illness.
Born February 6, 1932 in Greenfield Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Laverne H. & Helen M. Yager.
Mr. Yager was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Air Force. After his military service, he earned a BA degree from Cornell University and a Master’s degree from Penn State University. Starting in 1964 Mr. Yager worked with the Penn State Extension serving as a Cooperative Marketing Agent for seven Pennsylvania Counties; Adams, Franklin, York, Dauphin, Lebanon, Lancaster and Cumberland, in 1974 he assisted the USDA in several overseas projects in Poland, Armenia, Bahamas and Swaziland, after 36 years of dedicated service with the extension he retired in 2000. Laurence was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in many positions and callings. In his retirement years he enjoyed bee keeping, gardening and church activities.
Laurence is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Ann (Goodyear) Yager, two daughters; Jetawn A. Crow of Mesa, AZ and Tamara L. Hubbard of Clinton, UT, two Sons; Shawn D. Yager of Gettysburg and Michael N. Yager of Clarion, PA, four grandchildren and a sister, Delores Kubasik of Clymer, NY.
Funeral Services will held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1170 Kohler Mill Road, New Oxford, PA. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg.
