Obituary for Lee F. Jones
Lee F. Jones, 81, of Gettysburg, PA died Sunday morning, June 3, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 14, 1937 in Thurmont, MD he was the son of the late Arthur and Alice (Willard) Jones. He was the husband of Betty (Lindsey) Jones, of Gettysburg to whom he was married to for 59 years.
Mr. Jones was a member of Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He worked for Gettysburg Construction Company for 27years. Lee loved racing motorcycles and won many races during his career. He loved playing blue grass and gospel music, and could play any instrument that had strings.
In addition to his wife Lee is survived by his two daughters, Deb Hopkins, of Carlisle, PA, Donna Jones, of Emmitsburg, MD, six grandchildren, Meghan, Lee, Amber, Mandy, Kirsten, Kendra, three great grandchildren, Lilia, Jadyn, Tiana, brother, Jim Jones, of Hanover, PA, and sister, Holly Liller, of Taneytown, MD.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, 1865 Knoxlyn Rd., Gettysburg, PA. Burial with full military honors being presented by the Adams County Allied Veterans will be in Fairfield Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, as well as from 10:00 until the time of the service Thursday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to defray medical and funeral expenses.
