Obituary for Lt. Col. (Ret.) Arturo Sanchez-Lopez
Lt. Col. (Ret.) Arturo Sanchez-Lopez, 86 of Fairfield, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 26, 2016.
Born July 15, 1930 in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Antero & Pura (Lopez) Sanchez. Arturo is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ursula (Keim) Sanchez.
Arturo was a 20 veteran of the U. S. Army serving from 1951-1971 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he retired as a Lt. Col., from 1971 until his retirement in 1992 he served in various capacities for the U. S. Inspector General’s Office. He was a member of the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church in Gettysburg for 40 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children; Jessica Sanchez of Trenton, NJ, Margarita Lowery and husband Cameron of Strinestown, PA and Arturo Sanchez of Fairfield, PA, 6 grandchildren; Samantha Vitella, Airman Madison Lowery, Dillon Lowery, Monica McDannell, Miranda Sanchez and Xander Sanchez, his brother, Anibal Sanchez-Lopez and wife Barbara of Tucson, AZ, his sister, Olga Sanchez de Navarro and husband Luis Antonio of San Juan, PR, 2 nephews; Victor Sanchez and wife Ada and Peter Sanchez and wife Glenda, 3 nieces; Barbara Miranda, Diana Cardona and husband Carlos and Edna Navarro.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, 1865 Knoxlyn Road, Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Troy Morgan, officiating. A private burial will be held in the Lower Marsh Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at a reception in the church’s social room.
