Obituary for Lula Mae Warren
Lula Mae Warren, 92, of Fairfield, PA entered peacefully into God’s eternal care with family by her side on Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Place, Emmitsburg, MD.
Born August 2, 1926 in Emmitsburg, MD she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lula (Harbaugh) Long and the wife of the late Walter F. Warren who died in 1978. She was predeceased by an infant daughter at birth, Susan Ann and by her siblings, Opal Stambaugh, James Long, Raymond Long, Guy Long and Pearl Sayler.
Mrs. Warren was a former member of St. John Lutheran’s Church, Fairfield, PA, and recently attended services at St. Joseph’s Place. She worked at the Fairfield Inn and Ski Liberty for many years and was a former member of the Fairfield Senior Citizens.
Mae is survived by her daughter Dixie M. Keller and her husband Robert, of Fairfield, PA, her three grandchildren: Daniel Keller, of Hanover, PA, Beth Strickhouser, of Cashtown, PA, Darlene Keller, of Orrtanna, PA, eight great-grandchildren, and her sister Sylvia Rosensteel of Fairfield.
A service to celebrate and remember Mae’s life will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 East Main St., Fairfield, PA with Rev. Dale Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Fairfield Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her six great-grandsons: Jordan, Josh, Devon, Austin, Gabriel and Brock.
Little Mae stayed very active after moving to St. Joseph’s Place in 2014. She enjoyed many activities. Sitting in the garden, playing bingo, swimming, playing cards and attending church services brought her much enjoyment. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph’s Place for the excellent care that Mae received during her stay there, it is deeply appreciated.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mae’s name to the Fairfield Fire & EMS at 106 Steelman St, Fairfield, PA 17320.
