
Obituary for Margaret Ann "Peggy" Hellyer
Margaret Ann (Peggy Kisor) Hellyer, 69, of Gettysburg, PA died Thursday afternoon, February 16, 2017 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born November 4, 1947 in Lehigh, PA she was the daughter of the late Thaddeus William and Janet Esther (Brosius) Kisor. She was the wife of Howard R. Hellyer, of Ringoes, NJ, currently residing Gettysburg, PA, whom she married September 16, 1967 at Ft. Lee, VA and then lived in the Schofield Barracks in Hawaii for six months before Howard’s discharge from the U.S. Army.
In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by her three children, Kathleen Marie Ellis and her husband Dennis of Girdly, IL, Brenda Suzanne Jeffcoat of Waynesboro, PA, Brian Thomas Hellyer and his wife Rebecca Lynn of Gettysburg, PA, three grandchildren, Kacie Lynn Ellis, Jayden Thaddeus Ellis, Nicholas Howard Jeffcoat, her sister, Gwendolyn (Kisor) Carroccio and her husband Joseph of Hilton Head Island, SC, and her grand doggy, Hailey.
Besides raising her children, Margaret worked as a tour guide for the Gettysburg Tour Center, worked for 17 years as a cashier at Fay’s, Peoples and then CVS Drug Store, then as a private duty nurse with the Adams County Department of Aging. She had a love for animals and all the neighborhood dogs visited her for dog biscuits. She was an avid reader of material relating to Abraham Lincoln and the Gettysburg Battlefield.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Lake Heritage Community Center, 1000 Heritage Rd., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Richard A. Ginnevar officiating. The Monahan Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Kidney Foundation of Central PA, 1500 Paxton Street, Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17104 or to American Diabetes Research, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
