
Obituary for Margaret L. "Margie" Spangler
Margaret L. “Margie” Spangler, 94 of Gettysburg, PA died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg after a long illness.
Born March 25, 1922 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph T. & Rosanna (Galloway) Spangler.
Margie was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. During World War II she served with the United States Government’s Rationing Board. In the l950’s Margie owned and operated a Beauty Salon in the Hotel Gettysburg which she moved to a York Street location in 1968 where she operated the salon until her retirement in 1997. Following her retirement Margie worked part-time running a manicure business known as “Manicures by Margaret”.
Margie is survived by her two nephews; D. Michael Vial and wife Cynthia and Charles Lynn Vial and wife Rebecca, a great nephew and five great nieces. She was predeceased by four sisters; Helen P. Spangler, Mary C. Vial, Jean Everhart and Laura Mae Spangler, a step-brother, Richard Reaver and a niece, Ginger Bupp.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with her Pastor, Rev. Michael E. Allwein, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg. A viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Online tributes and condolences can be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
