Obituary for Maria M. Nieves
Our beloved Maria M. Nieves Hernandez 62, of McSherrystown, PA passed away Tuesday June 8, 2021 after a long battle of cancer with her daughters by her side. She was born on September 5th, 1958 in Hanover Pennsylvania to the late Francisco and Ramona (Espinel) Nieves. She was the widow of Jaime Rivera Santiago whom passed in 1996.
She was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Maria was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening crocheting crossword puzzles but most of all she loved time with her family.
Maria leaves to cherish her memory, her longtime boyfriend Bryan Holland of McSherrystown along with her loving children Lise Shaffer and husband Dwayne of McSherrystown, PA, Carmen Santiago and her partner Eric Towns of Hanover, PA, Monica Santiago and her significant partner Nicholas Pitzer of Aspers, PA, son Jamie Santiago II of Hanover PA, and Cynthia Hernandez of Aspers PA. Her eight beautiful grandchildren Malakai Curtis, Kierra Curtis, Alexander Shaffer, Xavier Shaffer, Ethan Laughman, Lauren Pitzer, Millianna Pitzer and Jamie Santiago III, which all of whom were the light of her eyes; two siblings, William Nieves of Hunterstown PA and Ramonita Rivera of Gettysburg, PA. She was predeceased by three siblings Luis Nieves,Rosalind Santiago and Antonia Lance. Maria has a host of nieces and nephews whom she adored along with friends she loved dearly.
There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA on Saturday, June 12th from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. Private interment will be in Biglerville Cemetery.
