Obituary for Marjorie Hoyt Steinberger
Marjorie Hoyt Steinberger, 91, 700 Fairfield Station Road, Fairfield, PA died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville, PA.

She was born November 21, 1926 in Altoona, PA the daughter of the late Howard E. and Jessie Klein Reighard. Marjorie grew-up in Altoona, PA. Her first husband, Robert A. Hoyt, Sr. died in 1970 and her second husband, George “Tom” Steinberger died in 2013.

Marjorie attended Army Cadet Nursing School at Garfield Hospital in Washington, D.C. For many years she was employed at various doctor’s offices in the Washington area. After moving to the Fairfield area Marjorie became involved with various choirs including the Emmitsburg Community Choir. She participated in that choir’s European Tour culminating in singing for the Pope at the Vatican in Rome at the Canonization of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. Mrs. Steinberger was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she also sang in the choir. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and baking. She won many Blue Ribbons for her pies at several county fairs. Marjorie was involved with the annual Lions Club dinner and was a member of the Fairfield Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Steinberger is survived by three children; Robert A. Hoyt, Jr. and his wife Pat of Fairfield, PA, Rebecca Ross of Upper Marlboro, MD, Kathy Hoyt of Miami, FL, three step-children; G. Thomas Steinberger, II of Fairfield, PA, John W. Steinberger of Bonneauville, PA, Camila M. Seiferd of Lamar, IN, 4 step-grandchildren. Marjorie is predeceased by a brother, Howard E. “Tim” Reighard and a son-in-law, Joseph Ross.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fairfield, PA at 11:00 AM with Rev. Beverly Donnella officiating. Interment will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorials can be made to Heartland Hospice, 1976 Scotland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or send flowers to the church.
