Obituary for Marty E. Tipton
Marty E. Tipton, 80, of Gettysburg, PA died, after battling a brief illness with cancer, Monday afternoon, July 11, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 8, 1935 in Orrtanna, PA she was the daughter of the late Byron J. and Lovell E. (Herring) Cease. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Dale Sites, Gene Roberts, and Robert Tipton.
Mrs. Tipton was a member of Gettysburg Baptist Church. She worked as a nurse’s aide visiting her patients in their homes. She liked flowers, music, dancing, and her dog Happy. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and looked forward to having lunch every Saturday with her sister at the Family Restaurant.
Marty is survived by her six children, Debra Kelly, of Gettysburg, PA, Kathy Silvestro, of Virginia, Candace Walter, of Fairfield, PA, Edward Sites, of Mechanicsburg, PA, Tamara Swisher, of Orrtanna, PA, Dale Sites, Jr., of North Carolina, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, her sister, Faye Storm, of Bonneauville, PA, step-daughter, Robin Bennett, of Aspers, PA, step-son, Edward Tipton, of Littlestown, PA and a number of step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Hadley and Carolyn Myers and two brothers, Burnell Cease and John Cease.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, July 15, 2016 at Gettysburg Baptist Church, 95 Fairview Rd., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Bill Mummert officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from Noon until the time of the service Friday afternoon at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Sites, Johnathon Wolfe, Edward Tipton, Brian Bennett, James Bowen, and Joseph Hadley.
