Obituary for Marvin L. Swisher
Marvin L. Swisher, 62, passed away peacefully in his beloved little cabin in Mt. Hope on Thursday, June 23, 2016.

He was born June 22, 1954 in Gettysburg, PA the son of the late Scott and Mildred Emory Swisher.

Marv was a friend to everyone he met and always had a smile on his face, even though he was in very poor health, and never complained. Before his health declined he was an avid hunter and loved the mountains especially mushroom hunting. He was still able to enjoy fishing with his brothers, cousins and many friends. He was a great gardener and took pride in his beautiful yard, full of flowers and vegetables. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but our lives have been enriched for knowing him.

Marv attended Fairfield High School. He was employed at Mount Saint Mary’s University for 33 years as a warehouse foreman.

Mr. Swisher is survived by five brothers and sisters; Betty Smith and her husband Glenn of Fairfield, PA, Nancy Harbaugh and her husband John L. of Fairfield, PA, Clifford Swisher and his wife Sue of Fairfield, PA, Gary Swisher of Stewartstown, PA, Dean Swisher and his wife Laurie of Gettysburg, PA and a number of nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Marv dearly. He was predeceased by three sisters; Kathryn Swisher, Janet Swisher, Doris Ann Swisher and a brother, Willis Swisher.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday evening June 28th at Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield from 6:00 Pm until 8:00 PM with Rev. Eugene Cline saying a few words at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010 or the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17403.
