
Obituary for Marvin R. Simpson
Marvin R. “Marvelous Marv” Simpson, age 70, of Gettysburg, PA passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Gettysburg Center.
Born November 9, 1947 in Gettysburg, he was the son the late Huston & Joyce (Elley) Simpson.
Marv was a graduate of Gettysburg High School and attended York College. He was employed for a number of years with Westinghouse Elevator Corp. in Gettysburg before entering into the restaurant and bar business. Through the years Marv owned and operated several bars and restaurants, Marvelous Marv’s, RBI’s Lounge, Big Boppers and most currently The Pike. He was an avid golfer and was known for his excellent putting stroke. Marv was a member of Cedar Ridge Golf Club in Gettysburg and always enjoyed his annual visits to Myrtle Beach with his golfing buddies.
Marv is survived by his sister, Susan J. Fox and husband Gary of Gettysburg, PA, his brother, Stephen H. Simpson and his husband David Bumgardner of Vineland, New Jersey, his nephew, Cory Fox and wife Jennifer, 2 nieces; Stacie Chornak and husband Mark and Kari Harding and husband James, 5 great nieces and nephews. Marv was predeceased by his step-father, Jack Weisgerber.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, with Robin Tyler, celebrant. Interment will be in the Upper Marsh Creek Cemetery, Gettysburg. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
