Obituary for Michael J. Eriksen
Michael J. “Leaf” Eriksen, 68, of Gettysburg, PA went to be with the Lord after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 26, 1947 in Huntingdon, PA, he was the son of the late Doris P. Eriksen.

Mike married the former Sharlene Kent of New Jersey on May 21, 1971. Mike and Shar celebrated 45 years of marriage this May. Mrs. Eriksen survives in Gettysburg.

Mike is the father of 2 children, Lori M. Eriksen of Gettysburg, PA and Michael W. Eriksen and wife Jaclyn Graewe Eriksen of York, PA. Mike is dearly loved by his 2 grandsons, Collin age 5 and Connor age 3.

Mike has 2 sisters, Katherine E. Reed of Hesston, PA and Rosella M. Radek and husband Steven of Huntingdon, PA. Mike also has several nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws who love him very much.

Mr. Eriksen was of the Lutheran faith.

He was a 1965 graduate of Huntingdon High School.

Mike began his employment at G. C. Murphy Co. in Huntingdon. He worked for G.C. Murphy for 30 years and managed stores in several locations. Mike enjoyed working several jobs. He was also employed at Lance Inc. for 14 years and at High Street Brews in Gettysburg for 15 years.

Mike served in the Army Reserves from 1966 to 1972 out of Fort Indiantown Gap.

Mike was an avid sports fan of all sports. He was a hardworking man who loved his family and friends. He will be remembered by those who loved him as a kind, gentle, giving man.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA with his nephew Rev. Charles Reed officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
