Obituary for Michael J. Hoy
After a long struggle with ALS, Michael J. Hoy joined the Lord on February 2, 2018.
Michael was born to Donald and Patricia (Martin) Hoy in Easton, Pennsylvania on April 29, 1953. He married Christine (Lilly) Hoy in Phillipsburg, New Jersey in 1991. Together they welcomed two children, Sean Michael and Mackenzie Patricia.
Michael was employed with Columbia Gas for 30 years prior to his retirement in 2009, after which he work for other natural gas companies in the pipeline industry. He was an active member of the community, where he coached tee-ball, midget football, and softball. He was a welcoming smile at Foursquare Church every Sunday morning. Michael and Christine opened their home to two foster children who lived with them for months. He touched many lives over his 64 years.
Michael’s mother, Patricia Martin Hoy preceded him in death. He is survived by his father, Donald Hoy; his sisters, Anna Marie Falco, Gayle Golden, Sandra Merola, and Patsy Yeakle; his brother, James Hoy; his wife Christine Lilly Hoy; his son, Sean Hoy; his daughter, Mackenzie Hoy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service for Michael, will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Foursquare Church, 328 West Middle St., Gettysburg, PA with Pastor Mark Chester officiating. The family will receive friends at the church after the services. The Monahan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the ALS Association, 30 Hope Dr., Hershey, PA 17033, or to SpiriTrust Lutheran Homecare & Hospice, 260 West High St., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
