
Obituary for Michael J. Wolo
Michael J. Wolo, 91, of Gettysburg, PA died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home, Gettysburg.
Born August 23, 1926 in Dickson City, PA he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Matrisian) Wolochowicz. He was the husband of Delores H. Wolo of Gettysburg to whom he was married to for 68 years.
Mr. Wolo was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corp serving during World War II. After his service he worked at various shoe companies including US Shoe, Hanover Shoe and finally retiring from Freeman Shoe Company after working in the shoe industry for over 40 years. He had belonged to a number of clubs in the area including the American Legion, VFW, CWV, and the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife Michael is survived by his three children, Sharon Wambach and her husband Vincent, of Harrisburg, PA, Michael G. Wolo and his wife Jo Anne, of Farmington, MO, Diane Wolo, CPA, of Maryland, eight grandchildren, Vincent Wambach, Angela Gallai, Anthony Wambach, Anndee Rama, Catherine Perez, Frank Wolo, Dr. Elizabeth Wolo, Monica Wolo, nine great grandchildren, and four sisters, Joanne Wolochowicz, Ceil Castellano, Sonya Dzwonczyk, and Andrea Castellani. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Mary Eckert, Thomas Wolo, and Teresa Piersimoni.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 25 West High St., Gettysburg, PA with Fr. John Kuchinski Celebrant. Burial with full military honors being presented by the Adams County Allied Veteran will be in St. Francis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg. Online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
