Obituary for Mildred "Millie" Horst
Mildred "Millie" Light Horst, age 92, died peacefully on the morning of June 10, 2017 in her home at Menno Haven Penn Hall in Chambersburg.

Millie, beloved by many, was an inspiration to all of us with her joyous sense of humor and sharp wit. She lived her life with a passion for the people in it, and always knew the details of her friends' heartaches and triumphs.

Born March 20, 1925 in Lebanon County, Millie was the wife of Donald Earl Horst, who died in January, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Richard Light of Springfield, OH, and Dr. Claude Light of Greensboro, GA, and her son, Edward Karl Horst, who died in November, 2010. She is survived by her son Donald Earl Horst Jr. and wife Lynne Horst of Huntsville, AL, her sister Kathlyn Light List of Andersonville, TN, granddaughter Mary Kathlyn Horst, grandson Benjamin Miller Horst, and daughter-in-law Patti Nunn Horst of Atlanta, GA.

Millie taught English and history in the Upper Adams School District for 20 years. She graduated from Wilson College in 1947 and served as past president of the Gettysburg Chapter of AAUW, Hospice of Adams County, Audubon Society, UNICEF and Meals on Wheels. Millie lived in Biglerville, PA for 50 years.

A memorial service will be held on July 8, 2017, at 2:00 pm in the Menno Haven Penn Hall Chapel with Chaplain Brenda Doyle leading the service. An informal reception will follow the service in the Laurel Room.
