
Obituary for Miriam W. Neely
Miriam W. Neely, 103, died Saturday, May 4, 2019 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Nursing Home in Gettysburg, PA.
A lifelong resident of Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence M. and Maude G. (Spangler) Weikert. She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Neely, who died on June 22, 1974, along with her three brothers, J. Wilbur, Donald S. and Earl R. Weikert, and a sister, Anna Newcomer.
She was a 1933 graduate of Gettysburg High School. She was a former employee of the Gettysburg Garment Co., Fairfield Shoe Co., Michael Manor Nursing Home and until her retirement was a cook at the Historic Fairfield Inn. Mrs. Neely was a member of the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, Gettysburg, PA.
Surviving are her five daughters: Delores (Earl) Hall, Wilmington, DE; Elaine Schelle, Towson, MD; Dorothy Neely, Hunt Valley, MD; Sue (Sam) Kessel, Vienna, VA; and Kathy Reider, Gettysburg, PA: nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, 1865 Knoxlyn Road, Gettysburg, PA with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Mark Englund-Krieger, officiating. Interment will be in the Fairfield Union Cemetery, Fairfield, PA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
