Obituary for Pamela P. Mikesell
Pamela P. Mikesell, 72, 6 Meadow Trail, Fairfield, PA died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the York Hospital.
She was born May 16, 1945 in Waukegan, IL the daughter of the late Robert and Ann Sabatka Prestwood, Jr. Pamela is survived by her husband, Jan E. Mikesell; two daughters, Lisa Mikesell of Union County, NJ and Danielle Mikesell-Redding and her son-in-law Jeff Redding of Fairfield, PA; three grandchildren, Alaina Redding, Evelyn Redding, Anderson Redding; a brother, Robert Prestwood, III; a sister-in-law, Colleen Murphy; a niece, Lauren Prestwood, a nephew, Bobby Prestwood of Huntington Beach, CA; and her beloved Bichon, Riley.
Pamela was a member of Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Gettysburg, PA. She cared tremendously about public education and was committed to its improvement. Early in her career she taught at the Mother Seton School in Emmitsburg, MD. But for most of her career she was a dedicated school counselor at the Littlestown Area School District. For over 10 years she has been a member of the Fairfield School Board, for a time serving as its President. Pam was the heart of her family and was particularly involved with her grandchildren’s activities. She also loved to travel with family and friends
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg at 2:00 PM with Fr. Herb Sprouse officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 14th from Noon until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fairfield Area School District 4840 Fairfield Road, Fairfield, PA 17320; Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, PO Box 3005, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
