Obituary for Patricia L. Groft
Patricia L. Groft, age 73 of Gettysburg, PA died peaceful at her home on Monday, December 25, 2017, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born June 22, 1944 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late George Samuel & Alice Elizabeth (Ohler) Wagerman. Patricia was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, George M. Groft, Sr. who died in 2014.
Patricia worked at the former Dutch Cupboard Restaurant in Gettysburg for many years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg, Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #202 and Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1562. Patricia and her late husband enjoyed camping and trips to the beach. She also loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with her family. Her hobbies included bird watching, going to the movies and listening to local bands play at various carnivals.
Patricia is survived by her five children; George M. “Mike” Groft, Jr. and wife Janet of Abbottstown, PA, Tammy K. Cleveland and husband Todd of Fairfield, PA, Diana M. Groft of Jamestown, ND, Tina D. Kuhn of Emmitsburg, MD and Chris A. Groft of Cashtown, PA, six grandchildren; Kristine Heare, Brian Groft, Daniel Gilbert, Zachary Kuhn, Devon Kuhn and Brett Cleveland, five great grandchildren with one due in January. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Angie Groft, five brothers; George “Pork” Wagerman, Jr. James “Sonny” Wagerman, Jack Wagerman, Richard “Bud” Wagerman and Kenneth Wagerman, and five sisters; Freda Eversole, Helen “Jo” Strayer, Betty Garman, Anna Moser and Virginia “Ginny” Krietz.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9-11 a.m. The family suggests memorials to Compassionate Care Hospice, 2449 South Queen Street, York, PA 17402.
