Obituary for Patricia "Trish" Ostermann
Patricia “Trish” Lavin Ostermann, 78, Whipporwill Lane, Orrtanna, PA died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
She was born in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Thomas Ellwood and Helen Welzel Lavin. Patricia is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kenneth J. Ostermann.
Trish was a lifelong educator, starting her career as a grade school teacher and later becoming a high school English teacher. She then moved into administration becoming the Principal of Towson Catholic High School and later Vice Principal of The Catholic High School of Baltimore. Following her retirement and move to the Fairfield area she became a substitute teacher in the Fairfield School District and also taught English as a second language to the Hispanic Community. Mrs. Ostermann was a member of the National Catholic Forensic League and coached speech and debate in the Baltimore area for many years. She loved to cook and studied at the Culinary Institute of America.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ostermann is survived by two sisters; Lynn Lavin of Berkeley Springs, W VA, and Lynn Patrice Lavin, OSF of Wilmington, DE. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Ellwood Lavin, Jr.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11 AM from Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 2600 Willoughby Beach Road, Edgewood, MD with Rev. Fr. Jack Ward celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass.
