Obituary for Paul J. Walter, Sr.
Paul J. Walter, Sr., 89, of Bonneauville, PA died Thursday evening, October 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born January 26, 1929 in Gettysburg he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Lillian R. (Kelly) Walter. He was the husband of the late Betty Jane (Hankey) Walter who died February 3, 2010.
Mr. Walter was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville. He worked as a service manager for Columbia Gas for 43 years, as well as parts deliveryman for NAPA Auto Parts in Gettysburg for 20 years. He was an avid collector and refinisher of antiques. He was a member of the New Oxford Social Club and was one of the founding members of the Bonneauville Ambulance crew.
Paul is survived by his four children, Paula Callahan, of Bonneauville, PA Paul J. Walter, Jr. and his wife Doris, of Hanover, PA, Michael D. Walter and his wife Nina, of Bonneauville, PA, Lisa Shull and her husband David, of Bonneauville, PA, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas R. Walter, his two brothers, Robert Walter, Charles Walter, and his son-in-law, Daniel Callahan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday October 9, 2018 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 E. Hanover St., Gettysburg (Bonneauville) with Fr. Benny Jose Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA.
