Obituary for Philip C. Johnson

Philip C. Johnson, Gettysburg, PA passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Gettysburg Hospital.


He was born June 20, 1945 in Gettysburg, PA the son of the late Lawrence S. and Isadora Williams Johnson.


Philip attended St. Francis Catholic School and Delone Catholic High School. He then spent 8 years serving in the US Marine Corp. Following his service he was employed at Bowen & McLaughin and AMF in York, PA for several years. And later at Quebecor World Printing in Fairfield until his retirement. Phil was a member of the Gettysburg American Legion, the Gettysburg VFW and the Gettysburg Eagles. He was an active member of the Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all he love spending time with his family.


Philip is survived by a wife, Sharon Goldwire Johnson, two sons: Todd Johnson of Gettysburg, PA, Brian A. Holland of York, PA, a daughter, Erica Johnson of Gettysburg PA, step children; Keya Castillo and her husband Felix of Gettysburg, PA, Tiffany Brooks and husband Richard of South Carolina, Norman Green Jr. of New Cumberland, PA, Kellen Johnson and his wife Sharice of Hummelstown, PA, 9 grandchildren; Chyanne, Hunter, Kamdyn, Robert, Jakhari, Alexia, Santana, Kennedy, Jessenia, 1 great grandchildren, Cynal, brothers and sisters; Josephine Brooks and her husband Anderson of Biglerville, PA, Dora A. Smith of Gettysburg, PA, Shirley Johnson of Gettysburg, PA, David Johnson and his wife Amy of Carroll Valley, PA, Michael L. Johnson of Chambersburg, PA, Louis Johnson of York, PA and Bernard Johnson and his wife Cim of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was predeceased by sisters; Alice J. Johnson, Theresa M. Hanlon and a brother, Lawrence Johnson and a son, Duane Brumgard.


A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
