
Richard Wallschlag, 82, formerly of Gettysburg, PA died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Grace Dale Nursing Home, Nazareth, PA.
Born September 4, 1935 in New York City, he was the son of the late Henry and Helen (Eisen) Wallschlag. He was the husband of Katharina (Bauer) Wallschlag of Nazareth to whom he was married to for 56 years.
Mr. Wallschlag was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg, PA. He worked as a wood finisher with Delwood Kitchens for 30 years. He was an avid soccer fan and enjoyed watching his favorite team Germany’s Bundesliga and the MLS. He also maintained an extensive vegetable and flower garden at his Gettysburg home of which he was very proud.
In addition to his wife Richard is survived by his sister, Helen Wallschlag, of Forest Hill, NY, his aunt Angela Wallschlag, of Germany, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, located in Pennsylvania, New Mexico, and Germany.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, January 15, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 22 West High St., Gettysburg, PA with Fr. John Kuchinski Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg.
