Obituary for Richard A. Flickinger
Richard A Flickinger, 85, of Gettysburg, PA passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at his home.
He was born June 6, 1934 in Littlestown, PA the son of Harry Lloyd and Ruth Miller Flickinger. His wife, Mary C Martin Flickinger passed away in 2014.
Richard began working for Mason Dixon Dairy Farm and then Floyd Huff Builders. In 1960 he and his wife Mary moved to the family farm and began a lifetime of farming. A few years later he also began working for PennDot as an equipment operator, retiring 29 years later. He treasured spending time with his family and enjoyed nature while hunting.
Richard is survived by four children; Wayne R. and wife Debra of Biglerville, Karen L. Keller and husband David of Gettysburg, Gary V and his companion Lynn of Gettysburg, Dennis J and wife Patricia of Gettysburg, grandchildren Wayne T., Candice, Amy, Jason, Janel, Stephen, Jennifer, Dennis Jr, Emma, Rebecca, nine great-grandchildren and a sister Joyce Vincent of Emmitsburg, MD. He was predeceased by a sister Shirley Shafer and a brother Roger Flickinger.
Richard was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. A private graveside service will be held at the church cemetery followed by a memorial mass at a later time.
