Obituary for Richard H. Hovelmann
Richard H. Hovelmann, 72, of Orrtanna, PA died Wednesday morning, May 11, 2016 at his home.
Born March 7, 1944 in Ardmore, OK he was the son of the late Bernard and Anna (Bornholdt) Hovelmann. He was the husband of Janice (Kramer) Hovelmann of Orrtanna to who he was married to for 30 years.
Mr. Hovlemann worked as an ironworker for the New York City Local #46. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era in Korea from 1961-1964. He volunteered in Adams County for Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed working with his hands, construction and gardening.
In addition to his wife Richard is survived by his two daughters, Laura Mowry and her husband Roger, Michelle Hovelmann, two step-children, James McGoldrick and his wife Nancy, Robert McGoldrick, four grandchildren, Matthew McGoldrick, Colleen Cole, Brooke Mowry, Jason Mowry, a great grandson, Braylon Cole, and one sister, Carol Giangreco.
A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Evergreen Cemetery, 799 Baltimore St., Gettysburg with Pastor Ron Parr officiating, there will be full military honors presented by the Adams County Allied Veterans. The Monahan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Johns Hopkins Cancer Research, 750 East Pratt St., Baltimore, MD 21202.
