Obituary for Richard Plantz Weaner
Richard Plantz Weaner, 87, of Gettysburg, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Born March 13, 1929 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Edgar and Margaret Weaner. He and his wife Connie shared 54 years of marriage.
He is survived by his daughter Edie and husband Mike Rice of El Segundo, CA, and sons Alan and wife Christina of Gettysburg, Joel of Jacksonville, Florida, and Sam and wife Mariellen of Melbourne, Australia, as well as five granddaughters, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.
Richard along with his brother Arthur, owned a dairy farm. He could always be found at work, fixing or maintaining chainsaws, tractors and other engines. In later years he devoted his time to bible study and online world news research with a focus on prophetic fulfillment. He was a member of the Assembly of Eloah, a seventh-day Sabbath church. His constant generosity endeared him to family, friends and acquaintances. His care and concern for others will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 PM, Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. Family will also receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until the time of the services at 10:30 AM on Sunday, November 20, 2016. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
