Obituary for Richard W. Seger
Richard W. (Dick) Seger, 93, of New Oxford, PA passed away in the early hours of Saturday, January 8, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 23, 1928 in McKees Rocks, PA, the son of the late Albert Seger and Blanche (Gaston) Seger.
Dick proudly served his country in the United States Navy and graduated from Duff’s Iron City College in Pittsburgh, PA. He relocated to the Washington, DC area to work as a banker at Riggs National Bank. After retiring from Riggs, he worked at Chevy Chase Savings Bank for several years, until relocating to Penn National. There he worked at the Penn Nation Golf Club.
He was a generous and dedicated family man who took care of others in his quiet, unassuming way and had a great sense of humor. He coached baseball, was president of AEHS Booster Club, leading the popcorn sales for many years, and rarely missed his children’s games. He stayed busy with home projects, working in the yard, where he particularly enjoyed riding his John Deere mower.
Dick is survived by his spouse of 62 years, Virginia (Moyer) Seger, his children, Richard W. Seger (Hilda) of Hanover, PA, John A. Seger (Sharon Fanning) of Bowie, MD, and Deborah S. Woschitz of Gettysburg, PA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Chelsey Seger, Marissa Seger, Eric Woschitz, Marissa Woschitz, and a great-grandchild Skylar Woschitz along with many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Lou (James) Campbell and Loretta Ann (James) Cook, and his niece Joanne Campbell.
