Obituary for Robert "Bob" J. Orndorff
Robert J. “Bob” Orndorff, age 70 of Gettysburg, PA went to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at his home surrounded by his beloved family.
Born April 29, 1948 in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the son of the late Roy Orndorff and Clara Julianna (Cleary) Fogle.
Bob was employed for 42 years with the Gettysburg Borough Highway Department. He enjoyed watering and caring for the beautiful flowers in downtown Gettysburg. Bob also worked for many years at Codori Memorials in Gettysburg.
Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia A. “Pat” (Kauffman) Orndorff to whom he spent 50 wonderful and happy years of marriage, his three wonderful sons; Robert E. and Kevin Orndorff of Gettysburg and John Orndorff of Greencastle, PA, his beautiful granddaughter, Gabrielle Orndorff of Dallastown, PA, two sisters; Margaret Schnably of Carolina Shores, NC and Mary Ann Cavender of Hagerstown, MD and five brothers; Walter Fogle and wife Edna of North Carolina, Harold Fogle and wife Phyllis of Flintstone, MD, George Fogle and wife Julia of Clearville, PA, Jimmy Fogle of Flintstone, MD and Steve Imes and wife Kate of Hagerstown, MD. Bob was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Fogle. He leaves behind his dog, Roxie, to whom he called baby, all of his friends who knew him as a very kind and loving person and his wife’s daycare children who called him “Pappy”.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 25 West High St. Gettysburg, PA. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Francis Cemetery. A Viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg and on Thursday at the church from 10-11 a.m. The family suggests memorials to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
