Obituary for Robert E. "Bob" Shelleman
Robert E. “Bob” Shelleman, 64, of McKnightstown, PA died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a four year battle with cancer. He was born April 8, 1954 in Gettysburg, PA the son of Mary Louise (Fridinger) Shelleman of Aspers, PA and the late Edgar L. Shelleman, Sr.
Bob was a 1972 graduate of Gettysburg High School. He worked for Leroy Angell Concrete Construction Co. and the Franz Martin Dairy Farm both of Gettysburg for several years. Bob spent 33 years of his working career with Morton Buildings, Inc. of Gettysburg and for many years assisted Carl, Judy and Troy Woerner with their trucking business. Bob was a very active member of the Cashtown Community Fire Department since 1975, serving many years as an officer of the department. He held the position of Financial Secretary for the last 35 years. He not only helped on the firefighting side of the department, but he was also very active on the fundraising side of the department missing very few fundraising activities and events. Bob enjoyed hunting, butchering and spending time with family and friends. He loved spoiling each and every one of his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Nancy M. (Miller) Shelleman, his son Anthony L. “Tony” Shelleman and friend Deanna Shea of McKnightstown, his daughter Tracy L. Shelleman-Wetzel and husband John of Orrtanna, PA, his six grandchildren; Logan M. Shetter of McKnightstown, PA, Madison L. Shetter and fiancé James W. Dell, V, of Hanover, PA, Alexis M. Shelleman of Gettysburg, PA, Gabriella M. Shelleman-Wetzel, Jacob R. Shelleman-Wetzel, Hayden L. Shelleman-Wetzel all of Orrtanna, and one great granddaughter, Brealynne Grace Dell of Hanover, PA, seven siblings; Victoria Martin Knepper of Chambersburg, PA, Edgar L. Shelleman, Jr. (Deborah) of Fayetteville, PA, Sharon Zirk (Dale Wampler) of Aspers, PA, John Shelleman (Kath) of Biglerville, PA, George Shelleman (Karen) of Biglerville, PA, Brian Shelleman (Samantha) of Biglerville, and Cheryl Farlow of Gettysburg, his brother-in-law, Raymond Wetzel of Gettysburg, and very special friend Bradly M. Keefer (Susan) of Fayetteville. He was predeceased by a sister Eurania (Rainy Lee) Wetzel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg . Interment to follow the services in Flohrs Cemetery, McKnightstown. A viewing will be on Thursday, October 4, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
