Obituary for Robert G. Rhoads
Robert G. Rhoads, age 91 of Gettysburg, PA died Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Transitions Health Care in Gettysburg.
Born in Lorain, Ohio, he was the son of the late Herbert H. & Esther (Shumaker) Rhoads.
Following his service in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II, Mr. Rhoads moved from Pittsburgh, PA to Gettysburg. He was the manager of Brinkerhoff Moving and Storage Company and later was employed by Leaseway Corporation. He completed his career serving for ten years as a license technician with the Gettysburg Driver’s License Center, retiring at age 82.
Mr. Rhoads was predeceased by his wife of forty seven years, Elizabeth T. (Meter) Rhoads, a daughter, Jane Ann Rhoads; two sisters, June R. Thompson and Eileen Rhoads; and a brother Herbert H. Rhoads, Jr. He is survived by a son, William H. Rhoads, with whom he resided; a step-daughter, Patricia A. Simpson and a step-son, Robert F. Wagaman, all of Gettysburg. In addition, he is survived by four step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Monahan Funeral Home 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg with the Rev. John F. Tarantino presiding. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg will be private.
