Obituary for Robert Lee Holmes
Robert Lee Holmes, 78, of Fairfield, PA, formerly of Frostburg, MD, died suddenly at his home, Thursday, June 30, 2016.
Born May 2, 1938 in Frostburg, MD he was the son of the late William P. and Marie K. (Kergan) Holmes.
Mr. Holmes was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Fairfield, PA. He was a graduate of Frostburg State College and earned his Master’s from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) in Westminster, MD. He was a retired school teacher, teaching at Emmitsburg High School and the Thurmont School District.
He is survived by his brother, Col. William P. Holmes, III, US Army Retired, and his wife Jan, of Crofton, MD, niece, LeeAnn Holmes Roberts and her husband Mark, of Crofton, MD, great niece, Allison Roberts, of Philadelphia, PA, great nephew, Joel Roberts, of Tacoma Park, MD, and great niece, Emily Navarro, of El Paso, TX.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, July 15, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church, 13 E. Main St., Fairfield, PA with Rev. Beverly Donnella officiating. Burial on the plot of Robert’s parents William and Marie will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Frostburg Memorial Cemetery in Frostburg, MD.
