
Obituary for Rodney W. Steinour
Rodney W. Steinour, 79, New Oxford, PA formerly of Gettysburg, PA died Monday, July 17, 2017 at Cross Keys Brethren Home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Steinour was born February 7, 1938 in Gettysburg, PA the son of the late Morris and Winona Smith Steinour. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Jean Mumper Steinour.
Rodney was a 1956 graduate of Gettysburg High School. Following high school he was employed by Gettysburg National Bank for the next 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Gettysburg Moose, member and past president of the Gettysburg Jaycee’s. He was formerly an active member of St. James Lutheran Church where he and his wife were involved with the Luther League and church council. For the last several years, Rodney was also an active member of the Brethren Home Community. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing and teaching tennis. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and cheering on his grandchildren at their activities. He and his wife enjoyed hosting friends and family at their home and continuing special family traditions: Rod was the proud winner of the 2008 Steinour Annual Egg Cracking Competition.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Steinour is survived by a son, Wayne A. Steinour and his wife Lisa of New Oxford, PA, three grandchildren; David H. Steinour and his wife Emily, Katie M. Stone and her husband Blake, Rebekah L. Smith and her husband Aaron, one great grandson, Jakob Steinour and a brother, Sidney B. Steinour of Gettysburg, PA. He was predeceased by a half-brother, Morris M. Steinour, Jr.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22 at 11 a.m. with family visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the Cross Keys Village Nicarry Meetinghouse with Pastor Linda Titzell officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Haiti Bible Mission, c/o New Beginning Resources, Inc., P.O.
