Obituary for Ronald A. Weaner
Ronald A. Weaner, 60, was born on May 28, 1956 to Roy Weaner Jr and the late June (Breighner) Weaner of Gettysburg and went to be with his Lord on April 14, 2017 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center after a long battle with leukemia.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Holly (Levengood), children Erin Brinser (Mark) and Laura Schou (Paul), grandchildren Noah and Gavin Brinser and Beth Schou, brother Edward Weaner, brother-in-law Gregory Urey, and nieces/nephews Heather (Urey) Rupp, Molly Urey, Christian and Kimberly Weaner. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Urey as well as his mother.
After graduating from Penn State University with a Masters in Agricultural Education, Weaner taught vocational agriculture in Snyder County for five years, in Lancaster County for two years, and after farming with his father for more than 10 years, at Dover Area High School for 21 years. He was an avid hunter and passed on his love of the outdoors to his children and students. Among his favorite life adventures was the chance to serve as a Commissioner on the Pennsylvania Game Commission for the last eight years. He also served as a member of the Gettysburg School Board for 16 years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg, PA. There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pennsylvania Game Commission Hunter Trapper Education Program or Focus on the Family Ministries.
